The invention relates to a system for locating a fixed or even moving object (3)/person, of the type including at least one location device (1) to be carried by the object (3)/person to be located, including at least radiofrequency communication means and a location device (2), and also including radiofrequency communication means capable of establishing a communication with the communication means of the device to be located (1). The invention is characterised in that the location device (2) further includes at least angle determination means (10), means for processing the signals received by the communication means of said location device (2) from the communication means of the device to be located (1) in order to determine the distance (d) between the device to be located (1) and the location device (2), and calculation means capable of calculating a so-called direction vector from at least three pairs of measures with three geographical and time positions different from the location device (2), each pair of measures including the calculated distance (d) between the location device (2) and the device to be located (1) and the angle (.theta.), said angle (.theta.) being the angle defined by the Earth magnetic North and the straight line representing the distance covered by the location device between the first and second geographical and time positions or between the second and third geographical and time positions, the first geographical and time position being the position at which the location device is switched on or the origin of the co-ordinates [0,0].

L'invention concerne un système permettant de localiser un objet (3)/personne, fixe ou même en déplacement, du type comportant au moins un dispositif à localiser (1) destiné à être porté par un objet (3)/personne à localiser, comportant au moins des moyens de communication par radiofréquence et un dispositif de localisation (2), comportant également des moyens de communication par radiofréquence, propres à établir une communication avec les moyens de communication dudit dispositif à localiser (1). L'invention en ce que ledit dispositif de localisation (2) comporte en outre au moins des moyens de détermination (10) d'un angle, des moyens de traitement des signaux reçus par les moyens de communication dudit dispositif de localisation (2) depuis les moyens de communication du dispositif à localiser (1) de manière à déterminer la distance (d) entre ledit dispositif à localiser (1) et ledit dispositif de localisation (2), ainsi que des moyens de calcul propres à calculer un vecteur dit <= de direction >= à partir d'au moins trois paires de mesures à trois positions géographiques et temporelles différentes du dispositif de localisation (2), chaque paire de mesures étant constituée de la distance (d) calculée entre le dispositif de localisation (2) et le dispositif à localiser (1) et de l'angle (.theta.), cet angle (.theta.) étant celui que fait le Nord magnétique terrestre avec la droite qui représente la distance parcourue par le dispositif de localisation entre la première et la deuxième positions géographiques et temporelles, ou entre la deuxième et la troisième position géographique et temporelle, la première position géographique et temporelle étant la position d'allumage du dispositif de localisation ou l'origine de coordonnées [0,0].
