ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A permeator device and method for the metering of solute- source materials into liquids thereby providing a constant, known concentration of solute in the liquid is disclosed. In particular, this invention relates to a process for providing a source of dilute constant concentration streams of volatile organic chemicals in water. The invention is useful for determining the adsorption characteristics of adsorbent materials for volatile organic chemicals in a facile quantitative manner and for the controlled delivery of solutes into specific target environments.
