- 7 - ABSTRACT An input optical signal Sop is converted by a photodetector 14 of a receiving circuit R into an electrical signal, which is amplified by an amplifier 15 and compared by a comparator with a reference voltage, then provided as the receiving circuit output Sd. This signal is applied as a trigger signal to a retriggerable monostable multivibrator 17, from which a rectangular wave signal Sdo of a predetermined time width is obtained. The output Sd from the receiving circuit R and the output Sdo from the multivibrator 17 are added together by an OR gate 18 and its output signal So is used as the output from a receiving device.
