A highly pure fraction of hyaluronic acid is disclosed which is non-inflammatory and avoids post-operative complications in ocular surgery. Also disclosed is a process for the preparation of hyaluronic acid characterized by converting hyaluronic acid into a corresponding quaternary ammonium salt and, following purification procedures, reconverting the quaternary ammonium salt into a sodium salt of hyaluronic acid.

On divulgue une fraction d'acide hyaluronique d'une haute pureté qui est non inflammatoire et qui permet de prévenir les complications postopératoires en chirurgie oculaire. On divulgue également un procédé pour la préparation d'acide hyaluronique qui se caractérise par la conversion de l'acide hyaluronique en un sel d'ammonium quaternaire correspondant et, après des traitements de purification, la reconversion du sel d'ammonium quaternaire en sel sodique d'acide hyaluronique.
