Atomized particles within a desired size range (e.g., 1 micron to about 5 microns) are produced from two immiscible fluids, the first a fuel source containing the formulation to be atomized, and a second fluid source which is contained in a pressure chamber surrounding at least the area where the first liquid is to be provided. The second fluid is ejected through an orifice placed in front of the first fluid stream path. The invention provides a method for the formation of small, relatively uniform fuel particles for use in internal combustion engines and a nozzle-type apparatus for providing the particles to a combustion chamber.
Des particules atomisées, dont la taille se situe dans un intervalle variant par exemple entre 1 et 5 microns environ, sont produites à partir de deux fluides non miscibles. Le premier fluide provient d'une source de carburant contenant la formulation destinée à être atomisée, le second provenant d'une source de fluide contenue dans une chambre sous pression, entourant au moins la zone dans laquelle le premier liquide doit être amené. Le second fluide est éjecté par l'intermédiaire d'un orifice placé en face de la trajectoire d'écoulement du premier fluide. L'invention concerne également un procédé de formation de petites particules de carburant relativement uniformes, destinées à être utilisées dans des moteurs à combustion interne. L'invention concerne enfin un appareil du type à buse, permettant de fournir lesdites particules à une chambre de combustion.
