This invention relates to methods of procurement and keeping of live feed for decorative animals, particularly for aquarium animals. The principal object of the invention is development of a method of procurement and keeping of live feed of invertebrate hydrobionts distinguished by a long viability time in a closed spare, which facilitates transportation of the live feed without any additional servicing. To achieve this objective, invertebrate hydrobionts are sorted, cleaned and packed into bags of 10 to 100 µm thick food polyethylene film; the bags are further filled with liquid habitat medium and sealed by welding. The ratio of the live weight of hydrobionts to the volume of liquid medium is taken to be 1 g of live weight per 10 ml of liquid medium. The liquid medium can be common tap water, natural water or distilled water. The liquid habitat medium can be additionally supplied with microbicides, antispasmodics, solutions of alcali and alcaline- earth metals, soluble salts of nickel, copper, zinc.
