An electrolytic cell comprising a pair of electrodes connected to a source of electrical current an electrolyte in fluid communication with the electrodes; a first gas, formed at the first electrode; a second gas formed at the second electrode; a separa-tor, and first and second gas collection vessels. The separator includes a first inclined surface to direct flow of the electrolyte and the first gas in a direction distal the second electrode and towards the first gas collection vessel due to a difference between densi-ty of the electrolyte and combined density of the electrolyte and the first gas. The separator includes an second inclined surface to direct flow of the electrolyte and the second gas in a direction distal the first electrode and towards the second gas collection ves-sel due to a difference between density of the electrolyte and combined density of the electrolyte and the second gas.
L'invention concerne une cellule électrolytique comprenant : une paire d'électrodes reliées à une source de courant électrique; un électrolyte en communication fluidique avec les électrodes; un premier gaz, formé sur la première électrode; un second gaz, formé sur la seconde électrode; un séparateur; ainsi qu'une première et une seconde enceinte de collecte de gaz. Le séparateur comprend une première surface inclinée pour diriger l'écoulement de l'électrolyte et du premier gaz dans une direction distale par rapport à la seconde électrode et vers la première enceinte de collecte de gaz en raison d'une différence entre la densité de l'électrolyte et la densité combinée de l'électrolyte et du premier gaz.
