A method of designing a transport network having a plurality of network elements and a plurality of connections between said network elements, comprises: (a) defining (4) a first network configuration and at least one alternative network configuration for the same transport network; (b) calculating (6), for each network configuration, a probability function (PI(n)) representing, for each maximum number (n) of routable flows, the probability of routing such a number (n) of flows in the network configuration currently considered; (c) calculating (8), for each network configuration, a unit-cost-per-flow function (CI(n) calculated as the ratio between a sum of the costs relative to the network elements of the network configuration currently considered and the probability function (PI(n)); (d) comparing (10) the unit-cost-per-flow functions (CI(n)) of the network configurations considered, for choosing a network configuration having a lowest unit-cost-per- flow value.

La présente invention se rapporte à un procédé de conception d'un réseau de transport comportant une pluralité d'éléments de réseau et une pluralité de connexions entre lesdits éléments de réseau. Ledit procédé consiste: (a) à définir (4) une première structure de réseau et au moins une structure de réseau supplémentaire pour le même réseau de transport; (b) à calculer (6), pour chaque structure de réseau, une fonction de probabilité (P<SB>I</SB>(n)) représentant pour chaque nombre maximum (n) de flux acheminables, la probabilité d'acheminement d'un tel nombre (n) de flux dans la structure de réseau couramment considérée; (c) à calculer (8), pour chaque structure de réseau, une fonction de coût-unitaire-par-flux (C<SB>I</SB>(n) calculée comme étant le rapport entre la somme des coûts relatifs aux éléments du réseau de la structure de réseau couramment considéré et la fonction de probabilité (P<SB>I</SB>(n)); (d) à comparer (10) les fonctions de coût-unitaire-par-flux (C<SB>I</SB>(n)) des structures de réseau considérées, de manière à choisir une structure de réseau ayant la valeur de coût-unitaire-par-flux la plus faible.
