The invention described herein details an embodiment of an instrument that can be used as a means to extract various types of foreign bodies that are lodged and/or become entrapped in a body orifice such as the nasal passage or the outer ear canal. The preferred embodiment of the invention is constructed of a molded plastic in a shape of an elongated cylindrical shaft, of sufficient length and diameter to be held in a persons hand like a pencil A contact surface at one end of the shaft is modified to present a concave surface to engage the outer surface of a foreign body such as a marble, bead, or nut. That has become lodged in a tight-fitting orifice. On or near the contact surface there is an opening that is connected to a channel running through the cylindrical shaft. This channel is connected to a compressible bulb attached to the opposite end of the channel, and in the preferred embodiment herein, is an integral part of the handle. This bulb is positioned on the handle in approximately the same position that the index finger would be, if the instrument were to be held like a pencil. Inside the bulb is a predetermined and sufficient volume of a liquid quick-setting adhesive material. When the bulb is depressed a fixed volume of adhesive material is expelled from the bulb, into and along the channel, and out the opening and onto the concave surface. Once the adhesive material has been expressed from the opening, the operator of the instrument will be able to manually advance the instrument in the orifice until it contacts the entrapped foreign body. The instrument is held in place against the foreign body as the adhesive hardens, after which the foreign body, now attached too the contact surface, can be removed by grasping the instrument and applying a gentle traction of the device from the orifice.
