A vehicle suspension system (55) is configured so as to contain all of the suspension motion control elements completely within the volume of the road wheel (100) while remotely locating the energy storage device (45) and damping device (42). An upright (60) comprises the spindle (61), brake caliper (105), and structure to hold a main strut shaft (70) parallel to a secondary strut shaft (67). The suspension's motion is controlled by the shafts which slide relative to the sprung part of the vehicle (1). The main strut shaft (70) includes a pumping piston (73). The fluid (91) displaced by the pumping piston (73) flows through a hydraulic connection (47) to a remote suspension module (40) mounted to the sprung part of the vehicle. The remote suspension module (40) hydraulically transmits the wheel motion to the remote energy storage device (45) and damping device (42). A steering arm (95) rotating around the main strut shaft (70) is configured to allow both struts (70 and 67) to slide through it, thus eliminating bump steer.

L'invention concerne un système de suspension de véhicule (55) configuré de façon à enfermer entièrement la totalité des éléments de commande du mouvement de suspension à l'intérieur du volume de la roue (100) alors que le dispositif de stockage d'énergie (45) et le dispositif d'amortissement (42) sont quant à eux, positionnés à distance. Un montant (60) comprend l'axe (61), l'étrier de frein (105) et une structure servant à retenir un arbre principal (70) parallèle à un arbre secondaire (67). Le mouvement de suspension est commandé par les arbres qui coulissent par rapport à la partie suspendue du véhicule (1). L'arbre principal (70) comprend un piston de pompage (73) qui assure le déplacement du fluide (91) dans un organe de liaison hydraulique jusqu'à un module de suspension distant (40) installé sur la partie suspendue du véhicule. Le module de suspension distant (40) transmet par voie hydraulique le mouvement de la roue au dispositif de stockage d'énergie (45) et au dispositif d'amortissement (42) distants. Un bras de commande (95) tournant autour de l'arbre principal (70) est conçu pour permettre aux deux arbres (70 et 67) de coulisser dans ce dernier, ce qui évite ainsi d'adopter une conduite adaptée aux bosses de la route.
