A method of assessing the health of each oocyte or embryo of a mammal from a plurality of oocytes/embryos of the mammal is provided. The method comprises the steps of. measuring gap junctional coupling strength or connexin43 expression of follicular cells associated with each oocyte; and identifying the gap junctional coupling strength/connexin43 expression of follicular cells associated with each oocyte, wherein the greater the coupling strength/connexin43 expression of follicular cells associated with an oocyte relative to the coupling strength/connexin43 expression of follicular cells associated with each other oocyte, the healthier the oocyte and the embryo resulting from that oocyte. Kits for conducting these methods are also provided.
L'invention porte sur un procédé d'évaluation de la santé de chaque ovocyte ou embryon d'un mammifère à partir d'une pluralité d'ovocytes/embryons du mammifère. Le procédé consiste à : mesurer la force de couplage de jonctions communicantes ou l'expression de la connexine 43 de cellules folliculaires associées à chaque ovocyte; et identifier la force de couplage de jonctions communicantes/l'expression de connexine 43 de cellules folliculaires associées à chaque ovocyte, plus la force de couplage/l'expression de connexine 43 de cellules folliculaires associées à un ovocyte par rapport à la force de couplage/à l'expression de connexine 43 de cellules folliculaires associées à chaque autre ovocyte étant grande, plus l'ovocyte et l'embryon résultant de cet ovocyte étant en bonne santé. L'invention porte également sur des coffrets pour mettre en uvre ces procédés.
