An ink jet printhead which comprises a plurality of nozzles and one or more heater elements (53, 10) corresponding to each nozzle. Each heater element is configured to heat a bubble forming liquid in the printhead to a temperature above its boiling point to form a gas bubble (12) therein. The generation of the bubble causes the ejection of a drop of an ejectable liquid (such as ink) through the respective corresponding nozzle, to effect printing. The bubble forming liquid (which may also be the ink) is collapsible, having a point of collapse (17) towards which it collapses, and each heater element is configured such that the point of collapse of a bubble formed by it is spaced (54) from that heater element.

L'invention concerne une tête d'impression à jet d'encre comprenant une pluralité de buses et un ou plusieurs éléments chauffants (53, 10) correspondant à chaque buse. Chaque élément chauffant est conçu pour chauffer un liquide de formation de bulle dans la tête d'impression à une température supérieure à son point d'ébullition de sorte à y former une bulle de gaz (12). La production de cette bulle provoque l'éjection d'une goutte d'un liquide éjectable (tel que de l'encre) à travers la buse correspondante respective, d'où la réalisation d'une impression. Ledit liquide de formation de bulle (qui peut également être de l'encre) est contractile et présente un point de contraction (17) au voisinage duquel il se contracte, chaque élément chauffant étant conçu de sorte que le point de contraction d'une bulle formée par celui-ci soit espacé (54) de cet élément chauffant.
