The invention relates to a cloth tape for a machine for the production of sheet material, in particular paper or cardboard, comprising a first layer of cloth which is formed by interweaving warp yarns with filling yarns and which makes available a side for contacting the tape material, and a second layer of cloth which lies underneath the first layer and is formed by interweaving warp yarns with filling yarns, wherein the ratio of the number of warp yarns of the first layer of cloth to the number of warp yarns of the second layer of cloth is greater than 1.
