A mechanism in a horizontal belt filter controls the position of the drainage belt to ensure its alignment with the vacuum pan. A section of belt rollers supporting the drainage belt is mounted on a movable structure capable of shifting the rollers laterally to the degree necessary to compensate for misalignments between the drain holes and the vacuum pan. The control opera-tion is implemented with a detector capable of sensing the position of the drain holes in the belt with respect to the vacuum pan. A signal is sent to an actuator that causes the belt rollers to move laterally in the direction required to maintain alignment of the drain holes with the vacuum pan. A dual-drive system is preferably utilized to provide a more uniform force distribution along the drive pulley and to increase torque, thereby also advantageously increasing the capacity of the filter.

L'invention porte sur un mécanisme de filtre à bande horizontale contrôlant la position de la bande de drainage pour assurer son alignement sur la boite à vide. Une section des rouleaux supportant la bande de drainage est montée sur une structure mobile pouvant déplacer les rouleaux sur la distance latérale nécessaire pour compenser le défaut d'alignements entre les trous de drainage et la boîte à vide. L'opération de contrôle se fait à l'aide d'un détecteur capable de détecter la position des trous de drainage de la bande par rapport à la boîte à vide. Un signal est envoyé à un actionneur qui amène les rouleaux de la bande à se déplacer latéralement à la position requise pour maintenir l'alignement des trous de drainage sur la boîte à vide. On utilise de préférence un système à double entraînement pour obtenir une distribution plus régulière des forces le long de la poulie d'entraînement et augmenter le couple, ce qui présente l'avantage d'accroître la capacité du filtre.
