Cinematic information including sequential frames of cinemagraphic video images and, optionally, corresponding audio data are converted into digital data which is transmitted from a central site (2) to a movie theater (6). The digital data received at the movie theater (6) is provided to a digital projector (44) which converts the digital data into the sequential frames of cinemagraphic video images and projects the sequential frames of cinemagraphic video images onto a screen (46). The corresponding audio data is converted into audible sounds sequentially with the projection of the sequential frames of cinemagraphic video images. Orders for cinematic information can be placed via a communication network, such as a private or public telephone network.
L'invention consiste à convertir en données numériques des informations cinématographiques comprenant des séquences successives d'images vidéo cinématographiques et, éventuellement les données audio correspondantes, lesdites données numériques étant émises à partir d'un site central (2) à destination d'une salle de cinéma (6). Les données numériques reçues au niveau de la salle de cinéma (6) sont délivrées à un projecteur numérique (44) qui convertit les données numériques en séquences successives d'images vidéo cinématographiques sur un écran (46). Les données audio correspondantes sont converties en sons audibles de manière séquentielle et sont associées à la projection des séquences successives d'images vidéo cinématographiques. Les ordres associés aux informations cinématographiques peuvent transités sur un réseau de communication, tel qu'un réseau téléphonique public ou privé.
