A reduced size CT scanner for baggage inspection has a wide angle x-ray source and multiple set of detectors at different distances from the x-ray source. The detectors in each set are sized and positioned to maintain consistent pitch and flux levels among all detectors. Conventional reconstruction processes can be used to process the data from the CT scanner. The scanner may also be incorporated into a check-in desk in a network of scanners.

Ce tomodensitomètre, aux dimensions réduites, permettant d'inspecter des bagages, est équipé d'une source de rayons X à grand angle et de plusieurs ensembles de détecteurs se trouvant à différentes distances par rapport à la source de rayons X. Dans chaque ensemble, les détecteurs ont une taille et un emplacement calculés pour maintenir une inclinaison et des niveaux de flux constants pour tous les détecteurs. Il est possible de recourir à un procédé conventionnel de reconstruction pour traiter les données fournies par le tomodensitomètre. Ce dernier peut également être intégré à un comptoir de contrôle dans un réseau de scanneurs.
