Conditioning secondary lithium ion cells at elevated temperatures above ambient reduces the time required to complete this process and produces cells and batteries which demonstrate improved electrochemical performance. Conditioning includes subjecting an electrochemical cell to at least one full charge/discharge cycle whereby gases generated and removed before the cell is sealed and ready for use.

Le fait de conditionner des cellules à ions de lithium de type secondaire sous température élevée dépassant la température ambiante réduit la durée du processus de conditionnement, ce qui donne des cellules et des piles dont les performances électrochimiques sont améliorées. Le conditionnement consiste entre autres à soumettre une cellule électrochimique à au moins un cycle complet de charge/décharge, les gaz produits étant éliminés avant la fermeture étanche de la cellule qui est ensuite prête à l'utilisation.
