For a mobile communications system, a method of allowing a mobile station in idle state to perform handoffs in a more efficient manner is provided. This is achieved by receiving, from a source base station via a first channel, channel information of a second channel that is a different type of channel than the first channel, the second channel being used for transmitting overhead messages by at least one neighboring base station; determining a target base station among the one or more neighboring base stations; and receiving the second channel from the target base station by using the channel information.
L'invention a trait à un procédé permettant, dans un système de communication mobile, à une station mobile à l'état de repos d'effectuer des transferts avec davantage d'efficacité. A cette fin, le procédé selon l'invention consiste : à recevoir d'une station de base source, par l'intermédiaire d'un premier canal, des informations de canal d'un second canal, dont le type est différent de celui du premier canal, le second canal servant à l'émission de messages de service par au moins une station de base voisine ; à déterminer une station de base cible parmi la ou les stations de base voisines ; et à recevoir le second canal de la station de base cible à l'aide des informations de canal.
