An isolated and purified outer membrane protein of a <i>Moraxella</i> strain, particularly <i>M. catarrhalis</i>, having a molecular mass of about 200 kDa, is provided by recombinant means. The about 200 kDa outer membrane protein as well as nucleic acid molecules encoding the same are useful in diagnostic applications and immunogenic compositions, particularly for <i>in vivo</i> administration to a host to confer protection against disease caused by a bacterial pathogen that produces the about 200 kDa outer membrane protein or produces a protein capable of inducing antibodies in a host specifically reactive with the about 200 kDa outer membrane protein. N-terminally and C- terminally truncated about 200 kDa proteins also are produced recombinantly.
L'invention concerne une protéine à membrane externe purifiée et isolée issue d'une chaîne de <i>Moraxella</i>, notamment de <i>M. catarrhalis</i>, présentant un poids moléculaire d'environ 200 kDa, et produite par des moyens de recombinaison. Ladite protéine à membrane externe d'environ 200 kDa ainsi que les molécules d'acide nucléique codant cette protéine sont utilisées dans des applications diagnostiques et dans des compositions immunogènes, et s'administrent notamment <i>in vivo</i> à un hôte de manière à le protéger contre une maladie provoquée par un agent pathogène bactérien produisant cette protéine à membrane externe d'environ 200 kDa ou produisant une protéine capable d'induire une production d'anticorps chez un hôte particulièrement sensible à cette protéine à membrane externe d'environ 200 kDa. Des protéines d'environ 200 kDa tronquées au niveau de la région N-terminale et C-terminale sont également produites de manière recombinante.
