Requests for content and delivery of content are handled in an asymmetric manner, with more bandwidth devoted to the delivery of the content than to the request for content. The request for content (600) is sent upstream over a first network and then sent upstream to a content library (170) over a second network. The content is retrieved from the content library (170), based on the request, and sent over a third network that is distinct from the second network. The third network has high bandwidth compared to the bandwidth of the second network. The retrieved content is processed (630) which may include buffering and decrypting, and is then sent to the user. The retrieved content may be sent to the user downstream over the first network, using more bandwidth than the bandwidth used for sending the request upstream from the user.
Selon l'invention, des demandes de contenu et la remise de contenu sont gérées de manière asymétrique, plus de bande passante étant attribuée à la remise de contenu qu'à la demande de contenu. La demande de contenu est envoyée en amont par l'intermédiaire d'un premier réseau, puis envoyée en amont vers une bibliothèque de contenu par l'intermédiaire d'un deuxième réseau. Le contenu est extrait de la bibliothèque de contenu, en fonction de la demande, et envoyée par l'intermédiaire d'un troisième réseau qui est distinct (logiquement et/ou physiquement) du deuxième réseau. Ce troisième réseau possède une bande passante élevée en comparaison avec la bande passante du deuxième réseau. Le contenu extrait est traité, un processus qui peut comporter des étapes de mise en mémoire tampon et de décryptage, puis est envoyé à l'utilisateur. Le contenu extrait peut être envoyé à l'utilisateur en aval par l'intermédiaire dudit premier réseau, au moyen d'une bande passante supérieure à la bande passante utilisée pour l'envoi de la demande en amont effectuée par l'utilisateur.
