The present invention relates to a process for the production of a dicarboxylic acid. The process comprises fer-menting a yeast in the presence of a carbohydrate- containing substrate and low amounts of oxygen at a pH value at which at least 50% of the dicarboxylic acid is in the acid form. The process of the present invention allows for high yields of the dicarboxylic acid product and is more cost-effective than existing processes in which the salt is produced which during recovery has to be con-verted to the acid. It also leads to a simpler and more convenient downstream processing.

La présente invention concerne un procédé de production d'un acide dicarboxylique. Le procédé comprend la fermentation d'une levure en présence d'un substrat contenant des glucides et de faibles quantités d'oxygène à une valeur de pH à laquelle au moins 50 % de l'acide dicarboxylique est sous forme acide. Le procédé de la présente invention permet d'obtenir des rendements élevés de produit acide dicarboxylique et est plus économique que les procédés existants dans lesquels le sel est produit, et doit être converti en acide pendant la récupération. Il permet également un traitement plus simple et plus pratique en aval.
