- 18 - Abstract A repair flange comprising members of flat, thin, preferably non- corrosive sheet material dimensioned so as to be flush mounted over a finished floor surface. The repair flange is designed to fit around the necks under the attachment rim of various size closet flanges and has an opening offset from the usual circular opening wherein the inner edges of two flange members can be proximate one another, spaced a distance apart or staggered. The flange members wherever their location, fit closely around the neck of the closet flange and the flange body extends over the floor surface beyond the area encompased by the rim of the closet flange so that attachment to the floor material can be made beyond the base of the closet flange. The repair flange members are constructed of material thin enough to be installed under the base of existing connected closet flanges without the necessity of disconnecting the closet flange from the drain system, yet they are rigid enough to provide a stronger connection between the closet flange and the floor surface. At the same time the flange fits neatly within the confines of the base of the toilet bowl. The addition of guide marks on the flange members make it easier to position the flange members with respect to the closet flange. Slots in the flange members also make it simpler to adjust the flange members to assure adequate fastening space to the closet flange. Use of slots also serves to shift the flanges to avoid damage to the cross webbing at the base of the toilet bowl. Screws, preferably flat head screws for fastening the closet flanges to the flange members through countersunk spacers cushioned by washers enable better fastening and - 19 - less likelihood of stripping the screws. A multi-purpose planar surface to extend the anchoring surface over large deteriorated flooring adding support to toil and floor systems and acting as a cover plate to cover floor surfaces left open when toilets are interchanged. The repair flange is primarly adapted to repair floor material directly under the base of toilet bowls which contributes to a snug and tight connection of the toilet bowl to the floor system.
