An integrated communications application reads information copied to a shared buffer by a user from another application . The information copied can comprise any format and can originate from any application from which the user can paste information. In this way there is no restriction on the source of information. The computer application reads the buffer and copies the information so that it can subsequently process it to determine if it conforms to a predetermined data-type. One or more means to communicate with an entity whose address corresponds to the data-type are then determined from a single data-type. This enables the application to revert to an alternative means of communication automatically if the means first used to try to communication with the entity is not successful. More generally, the computer application is arranged for use in a computer communications environment and comprises: means arranged to read information stored in a buffer, the buffer arranged to be shared between a plurality of applications in said computing environment; and means arranged to process said information to determine if the information can be determined to comprise one or more of a plurality of data-types.
Une application de communication intégrée lit des informations copiées sur une mémoire tampon partagée par un utilisateur à partir d'une autre application. Les informations copiées peuvent posséder un format quelconque et provenir de toute application à partir de laquelle un utilisateur peut coller des informations. Il n'existe ainsi aucune restriction quant à la source des informations. L'application informatique lit la mémoire tampon et copie les informations, afin de pouvoir ensuite les traiter pour déterminer si elles sont conformes à un type de données prédéterminé. L'on détermine ensuite, à partir d'un type de données unique, un ou plusieurs moyens permettant de communiquer avec une entité dont l'adresse correspond audit type de données. Cela permet à l'application de s'en remettre automatiquement à un autre moyen de communication en cas d'échec du premier moyen utilisé pour communiquer avec l'entité. Plus généralement, l'application informatique selon l'invention est destinée à être utilisée dans un environnement de télématique, et comprend : des moyens adaptés pour lire des informations stockées dans une mémoire tampon, cette dernière étant partagée entre une pluralité d'applications dans ledit environnement informatique ; et des moyens adaptés pour traiter lesdites informations, afin de déterminer s'il est possible de déterminer que ces dernières comprennent un ou plusieurs d'une pluralité de types de données.
