A method for the prophylactic and therapeutic treatment of bacterial infections is disclosed which comprises the treatment of an individual with an effective amount of a modified version of a lytic enzyme produced by a bacteria infected with a bacteriophage specific for said bacteria wherein said modified version of said at least one lytic enzyme is selected from the group consisting of shuffled lytic enzymes, chimeric lytic enzymes, wherein the lytic enzyme is in an environment having a pH which allows for activity of said lytic enzyme; and a carrier for delivering said lytic enzyme. Additionally, a holin enzyme for puncturing the membrane may be included in the composition. This method, and composition can be used for the treatment of upper respiratory infections, skin infections, wounds, and burns, vaginal infections, eye infections, intestinal disorders and dental problems.
L'invention concerne une méthode destinée au traitement prophylactique et thérapeutique des infections bactériennes. Ladite méthode consiste à traiter un individu à l'aide d'une dose efficace d'une version modifiée d'une enzyme lytique produite par une bactérie infectée par un bactériophage spécifique de ladite bactérie, la version modifiée de cette enzyme lytique étant sélectionnée dans le groupe constitué des enzymes lytiques mélangées et des enzymes lytiques chimères, et l'enzyme lytique se trouvant dans un environnement ayant un pH permettant à l'enzyme lytique d'être active. L'invention concerne également un excipient destiné à l'administration de ladite enzyme lytique. En outre, une enzyme holine destinée à perforer la membrane peut être ajoutée à la composition. Cette méthode et cette composition peuvent être utilisées pour le traitement des infections des voies respiratoires supérieures, des infections cutanées, des blessures, des brûlures, des infections vaginales, des infections oculaires, des troubles intestinaux et des problèmes dentaires.
