This invention relates to topical compositions of an antibacterial benzoquinolizine-2-carboxylic acid, incorporated either as the single therapeutic ingredient in hitherto undescribed pharmaceutical compositions, or as an ingredient in novel combination with at least one agent selected from a retinoid, an antifungal agent, another antibacterial compound and/or a steroid/non-steroid anti-inflammatory agent, to processes for preparation of the compositions, to use of the compositions in preparation of a medicament, and to a method of therapeutic or prophylactic use of such a composition for the treatment of dermal, ophthalmic, otic and nasal infections, with or without attendant inflammation.

L'invention concerne des compositions topiques d'un acide benzoquinolizine-2-carboxylique antibactérien, intégré soit en tant qu'unique ingrédient thérapeutique dans des compositions pharmaceutiques qui n'ont pas été décrites, soit en tant qu'ingrédient dans une nouvelle combinaison avec au moins un agent choisi dans le groupe constitué par un rétinoïde, un agent antifongique, un autre composé antibactérien et/ou un agent anti-inflammatoire stéroïde/non stéroïde. L'invention concerne également des processus de préparation desdites compositions, leur utilisation dans la préparation d'un médicament et une méthode d'usage thérapeutique ou prophylactique de cette composition pour le traitement d'infections dermiques, ophtalmiques, otiques et nasales accompagnée ou non d'une inflammation.
