La présente invention concerne un procédé de production d'hydrogène à partir d'une charge hydrocarbonée et de vapeur d'eau comprenant : - une étape de production d'un gaz de synthèse dans une unité de vaporéformage de la charge hydrocarbonée en présence de la vapeur d'eau, - une étape de conversion à la vapeur du gaz de synthèse obtenu à l'étape précédente produisant un flux d'hydrogène contenant du méthane et du dioxyde de carbone, - une étape de captage du dioxyde de carbone et du méthane, présents dans le flux obtenu à l'étape de conversion à la vapeur, sous forme d'hydrates produisant un flux d'hydrogène pur, - une étape de régénération du méthane, - une étape de recyclage du méthane vers le vaporéformage.
