L'invention concerne un procédé pour l'obtention d'amines tertiaires méthylées qui consiste à faire réagir l'hexaméthylènetétramine sur divers précurseurs azotés en présence d'hydrogène et d'uncatalyseur d'hydrogénation. La réaction est très sélective, la méthylation portant uniquement sur les azotes amines et nitriles. Selon l'invention, on obtient très aisément les amines méthylées correspondant à des dérivés initiaux aussi divers que les mono ou polyamines grasses, les aminoalcools, les êtheramines, les nitriles, les aminonitriles, etc...
