An absorbent article (10) is provided which comprises a topsheet (12), wherein at least a portion of the topsheet (12) has been treated with an aqueous solution comprising a hydrophilic polymer, and optionally an effective amount of a surfactant. The topsheet (12) is treated to render the topsheet (12) hydrophilic without the use of potentially irritating levels of a surfactant. The hydrophilic polymer is preferably aloe vera, methylcellulose, hydroxypropyl methylcellulose, gum arabic, gum acacia, or polyvinyl alcohol. The optional surfactant is used at low, non-irritating levels to aid in the application of the aqueous solution to the topsheet (12), thereby enhancing the ability of the hydrophilic polymer to coat the surface of the treated portion of the topsheet (12) to render the topsheet (12) hydrophilic.
L'invention concerne un article absorbant (10) comprenant une couche supérieure (12) dont au moins une partie a été traitée avec une solution aqueuse renfermant un polymère hydrophile, et, éventuellement, une quantité efficace d'un tensioactif. La couche supérieure (12) est traitée de façon à la rendre hydrophile sans recourir à des niveaux éventuellement irritants d'un tensioactif. De préférence, le polymère hydrophile est l'aloès ordinaire, la méthylcellulose, l'hydroxypropylméthylcellulose, la gomme arabique, la gomme d'acacia ou du polyalcool de vinyle. Le tensioactif facultatif est utilisé à des niveaux faibles, non irritants afin de faciliter l'application de la solution aqueuse à la couche supérieure (12), ce qui améliore l'aptitude du polymère hydrophile de recouvrir la surface de la partie traitée de la couche supérieure (12) afin de la rendre hydrophile.
