ABSTRACT A solar blanket storage device that rolls up a flexible solar blanket from a flat position covering a swimming pool, and by means of pulley operated arms attached to poles at one end of the pool lifts and moves the rolled up solar blanket to a position above and to the side of the pool so as to be substantially clear of the entire region above the pool and to avoid substantial blocking a view of the pool from behind the position. This eliminates hazard and interference with users of the pool, and with the ability of guarding persons to watch the pool. In addition, the blanket can be collected or dispensed without chafing against the pool because the solar blanket can be drawn off the roller when it is in a partly raised position, away from the side of the pool.
