An arrester isolator device comprises an insulator bushing for penetrating through a transformer housing and a sealing gasket engaged by said bushing on one side of said wall for making a sealed joint between said bushing and said wall. A compression nut on the bushing and on the other side of the wall holds the gasket in place and seals the joint. A stud extends through the insulator for coupling electrical connections from the inside to the outside of the housing. On an exterior end of the stud there is a removably attached arrester isolator whereby the arrester isolator can be removed and replaced without either opening the housing or breaking the seal. Means outside the housing are for breaking electrical circuits completed through the insulator and arrester isolator, and means responsive to a catastrophic failure for activating the means outside said housing to break the electrical circuit.

Cette invention concerne un isolateur de limiteur de surtension qui comprend une traversée isolante à insérer dans l'enveloppe d'un transformateur et une bague d'étanchéité comprimée par la traversée d'un côté de ladite enveloppe pour constituer un joint étanche entre les deux. Un écrou de compression vissé sur la traversée de l'autre côté de l'enveloppe maintient la bague en place et obture la lacune de joint. Une tige servant de borne de raccordement électrique traverse l'isolateur. L'isolateur de limiteur de surtension est monté de façon amovible sur l'extrémité extérieure de la tige pour permettre son remplacement sans avoir à ouvrir l'enveloppe du transformateur ni à détruire le joint d'étanchéité. Des moyens sont prévus à l'extérieur de l,enveloppe pour sectionner les circuits électriques passant à travers la traversée et l'isolateur, ainsi que des moyens pour déclencher l'interruption du courant à l'extérieur du transformateur en cas de défaillance catastrophique.
