One aspect of the present invention relates to method of contraception in mammalian females, which method comprises the oral administration of an estrogenic component and a progestogenic component to a female of childbearing capability in the amount effective to inhibit ovulation, wherein the estrogenic component is selected form the group consisting of: substances represented by the following formula (I) in which formula R1, R2, R3, R4 independently are a hydrogen atom, a hydroxyl group or an alkoxy group with 1- 5 carbon atoms; each of R5, R6, R7, is a hydroxyl group; and no more than 3 of R1, R2, R3, R4 are hydrogen atoms; precursors capable of liberating a substance according to the aforementioned formula when used in the present method; and mixtures of one or more of the aforementioned substances and/or precursors. Another aspect of the invention concerns a pharmaceutical kit comprising oral dosage units that contain the aforementioned estrogenic component and/or a progestogenic component.
Dans une réalisation, l'invention concerne une méthode de contraception chez les femelles de mammifères, cette méthode consistant à administrer oralement un composant oestrogène et un composant progestogène à une femelle, en âge de procréer, dans une quantité suffisante pour inhiber l'ovulation, le composant oestrogène étant choisi parmi le groupe comprenant des substances représentées par la formule (I) dans laquelle R¿1?, R¿2?, R¿3?, R¿4? représentent, de façon indépendante, un atome d'hydrogène, un groupe hydroxyle ou un groupe alcoxy comportant de 1 à 5 atomes de carbone, chaque R¿5?, R¿6?, R¿7? représentant un groupe hydroxyle, et pas plus de 3 parmi R¿1?, R¿2?, R¿3?, R¿4? représentant des atomes d'hydrogène, des précurseurs pouvant libérer une substance selon la formule ci-dessus lorsqu'ils sont utilisés dans la présente méthode, et des mélanges d'une ou de plusieurs substances ci-dessus mentionnées et/ou de précurseurs. Dans une autre réalisation, l'invention concerne un kit pharmaceutique comprenant des unités de dosage oral contenant le composant oestrogène ci-dessus mentionné et/ou un composant progestogène.
