The production of caprolactam by reacting 6-amino capronitrile with water in the presence of catalysts, using an initial mixture of 6-amino capronitrile and the tetrahydroazepine derivative of formula (I), and reaction in the liquid phase in the presence of heterogeneous catalysts, and a process for producing tetrahydroazepine derivative (I) and its use for making caprolactam and polycaprolactam.

L'invention concerne un procédé de préparation de caprolactame par réaction de 6-aminocapronitrile avec de l'eau en présence de catalyseurs, à l'aide d'un mélange initial de 6-aminocapronitrile et du dérivé tétrahydroazépine de la formule (I), la réaction s'effectuant en phase liquide en présence de catalyseurs hétérogènes. L'invention concerne également un procédé de préparation du dérivé tétrahydroazépine (I) et son utilisation pour préparer du caprolactame et du polycaprolactame.
