A fire-resistant facade or glass roof has a supporting structure consisting of post and beam sections in which the post and beam sections define frame fields provided with a fire-resistant glazing. The beam and post sections (21) should be made of aluminum and form closed structural units which can be jointly manufactured for use in fire-resistant constructions. The beam and post sections each have a core section (22) which absorbs the static loads and which is surrounded in its outer wall area by a U-shaped hollow chamber for accommodating molded substances (36, 36.1) consisting of a heat-absorbing, hydrophilic adsorbent having a high proportion of water. Connecting webs are provided between the outer wall of the U-shaped hollow chamber and the core section (22) which ensure a low heat flow from the outer wall of the hollow chamber to the core section. As a result, crystal water is released when the control temperature of the hydrophilic adsorbent is attained and by means of which the metal construction is cooled.
