A system for digital rights management in a portable digital media device is presented in which the portable digital device obtains a license for a digital media file with the assistance of a proxy application. A license request is formulated in and sent from the portable digital media device to a proxy application residing on a host device. The proxy application forwards the license request to a license server. The license server fulfills the license request and sends the license to the proxy application, which then forwards the license to the portable digital media device. The described digital rights management system implements a method for indirect license acquisition.
L'invention concerne un système de gestion de droits numériques sur dispositif multimédia numérique portable. Selon ce système, le dispositif numérique portable obtient une licence pour un fichier multimédia numérique au moyen d'un serveur mandataire. Une demande de licence est établie et transmise depuis le dispositif numérique portable à un serveur mandataire résidant sur un dispositif hôte. Le serveur mandataire retransmet la demande de licence à un serveur de licence. Le serveur de licence complète la demande de licence et envoie la licence au serveur mandataire qui la retransmet ensuite au dispositif multimédia numérique portable. Le système de gestion de droits numériques décrit dans l'invention met en oeuvre un procédé d'acquisition indirecte de licence.
