A method reduces cold start emissions in spark ignited internal combustion engines. The method includes supplying a fuel having an additive that includes a metal--containing compound to a spark ignited internal combustion engine. The metal--containing compound is supplied in an amount effective to reduce cold start emissions. In one example, the metal is manganese and the additive compound is MMT.

Méthode permettant de réduire les émissions de départ à froid dans les moteurs à combustion interne à allumage commandé. Le méthode consiste à fournir un carburant comprenant un additif qui inclut un composé contenant un métal à un moteur à combustion interne à allumage commandé.
