A method of power line communication over an electrically conductive line having a plurality of phases between a first communication device and a plurality of other devices communicating at a communication frequency. For each phase the devices communicate at the communication frequency substantially over a single the phase. The method includes, for the first communication device receiving communications from the plurality of other devices, minimizing coupling between the phases so as to substantially maintain isolation between the phases at the communication frequency, and receiving communications in the first communication device at the communication frequency from the substantially isolated phases so as to minimize electrical noise received by the first communication device from interfering with the communications.
