A method of stimulating stem cell differentiation in ischemia damaged tissue comprises the steps of increasing the concentration of VEGF in the ischemia damaged tissue and increasing the concentration of stem cells in the ischemia damaged tissue while the concentration of VEGF in the ischemia damaged tissue is increased.
