The present invention relates to the novel human retina-specific proteins called C7orf9, C12orf7, MPP4 and F379, and isolated nucleic acid molecules encoding said proteins. Also provided are vectors, host cells, antibodies and recombinant methods for producing these human proteins. The invention further relates to diagostic and therapeutic methods useful for diagnosing and treating macular degeneration, e.g. AMD.
