The present invention provides a method for protecting a character entered at a graphical interface. The method comprises the steps of: generating a set of images that form a complete image of a keypad having a button-to-character assignment; displaying the graphical keypad using said image set; and, obtaining the character of a selected button using the button-to-character assignment. The inventive method can be repeated with a different button-to- character assignment in each repetition to obtain a sequence of characters. In consequence of the inventive method, the entered character is protected as monitoring software can capture merely unreadable portions of the complete keypad image. In furtherance of this purpose, the present invention also provides a method for generating a set of images from a complete image of a character belonging to a character set.

L'invention concerne un procédé de protection d'un caractère entré à une interface graphique, procédé comprenant les étapes suivantes : génération d'un ensemble d'images formant une image complète d'un clavier doté d'une attribution bouton-caractère ; affichage du clavier graphique au moyen dudit ensemble d'images ; et obtention du caractère d'un bouton sélectionné au moyen de l'attribution bouton-caractère. Le procédé selon l'invention peut être répété au moyen d'une attribution bouton-caractère différente dans chaque répétition, en vue d'obtenir une séquence de caractères. Grâce au procédé selon l'invention, le caractère entré est protégé, du fait qu'un logiciel de contrôle peut saisir uniquement des portions non lisibles de l'image complète du clavier. Outre cet usage, l'invention permet également de disposer d'un procédé de génération d'un ensemble d'images à partir d'une image complète appartenant à un ensemble de caractères.
