A pet door assembly for insertion within a hole formed in a wall having a frame, e.g., a pair of exterior frames, and a security cover. The security cover has a main body with vertical edges and vertical flanges formed near each vertical edge. One of the frame members includes vertically extending channel members for slidably receiving the vertical flanges of the security cover. Each channel member includes an integrally formed wall portion, a portion of which is located inwardly of the flange when the cover is disposed within the channel. The channel members and the vertical flanges engage in an interlocking fit to prevent the cover from horizontally extruding out of the channel, such as by a force applied substantially normal to the security cover, thus preventing the security cover from dislodging from the frame. The assembly can include a central inner frame, which is located between the pair of exterior frames, that has mounting structure for mounting centrally a door in the inner frame and over the pet passageway. Each of the exterior frames includes a rear surface having a plurality of fastener sleeves extending outwardly therefrom and having a longitudinally extending slot formed therein. Additionally, the central frame has at least one fastener bracket formed along opposed edges of the inner frame. The bracket includes one or more fastener- receiving apertures having a key portion that is configured to seat within the slot formed within the fastener sleeve. The mating engagement of the fastener sleeve and the key prevents movement of one or both of the exterior frames relative to the inner frame. One of the exterior frames can also optionally include a latching assembly mounted to a top portion thereof. The latching assembly includes a movable latch element that is alternately disposable between a locking position for preventing upward movement of the security cover when assembled therewith, and an unlocked position for allowing upward movement and thus disassembly of the security cover from the frame.

Le couvercle de sécurité présente un corps principal doté de bords verticaux ainsi que des rebords verticaux formés près de chaque bord vertical. Un des éléments du cadre comprend des éléments de canaux verticaux destinés à recevoir coulissants les rebords verticaux du couvercle de sécurité. Chaque élément de canal présente une paroi solidaire dont une partie est située à l'intérieur du rebord lorsque le couvercle est disposé à l'intérieur du canal. Chacun des cadres extérieurs comprend une surface arrière présentant une pluralité de manchons de fixation s'étendant à l'extérieur et dans lesquels est formée une fente longitudinale. De plus, le cadre central présente au moins un support de fixation formé le long de bords opposés du cadre intérieur. Le support comprend une ou plusieurs ouvertures recevant des fixations présentant une partie mâle configurée pour s'emboîter dans la partie femelle formée à l'intérieur du manchon de fixation. L'emboîtement apparié du manchon de fixation et de la partie mâle empêche le mouvement d'un ou des deux cadres extérieurs par rapport au cadre intérieur. Un des cadres extérieurs peut également comprendre, à titre d'option, un ensemble de verrouillage monté sur sa partie supérieure. L'ensemble de verrouillage comprend un élément de verrouillage mobile pouvant être placé alternativement en position de verrouillage empêchant le mouvement vers le haut du couvercle de sécurité lorsque ceux-ci sont assemblés, et une position déverrouillée permettant le mouvement vers le haut et par conséquent le désassemblage du couvercle de sécurité de son cadre.
