2133444 9321191 PCTABS00027 The invention relates to a compound having formula (A) or pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof, wherein one of R1 and R2 is a heteroatom fatty acid acyl group having 13-14 carbon atoms in the principal chain and up to a total of 18 carbon atoms, while the other is hydrogen, a heteroatom of fatty acid acyl group containing 13-14 carbon atoms in the principal chain and up to a total of 18 carbon atoms or an acyl group of a fatty acid containing 4-26 carbon atoms in the principal chain and up to a total of 30 carbon atoms and R is a naturally occurring polar group characteristic of a glycerolphospholipid isolated from endogenous sources. This invention also relates to the use of the compounds of the present invention for inhibiting retrovirus infections and for the treatment of AIDS or AIDS related diseases.
