A process for the treatment of effluent, particularly acid mine drainage, is provided which includes the steps of a. neutralising acid; b. removing cations by ion exchange using a cation resin; c. regenerating the cation resin; d. treating the eluates of the cation ion exchange step; e. adsorbing anions from the effluent of the cation removal step using an anion exchange resin; and f. regenerating the anion exchange resin.

L'invention concerne un procédé de traitement d'effluent, notamment un drainage minier acide. Ce procédé consiste : a) à neutraliser l'acide; b) à supprimer des cations par échange d'ions au moyen d'une résine cationique; c) à régénérer la résine cationique; d) à traiter les éluats de l'étape d'échange de cations; e) à adsorber les anions de l'effluent de l'étape de suppression des cations au moyen d'une résine échangeuse d'anions; et f) à régénérer la résine échangeuse d'anions.
