This invention discloses a method for reducing the viral load by removal of viruses or fragments or components thereof from the blood by extracorporeally circulating blood through hollow fibers which have in the porous exterior surface, immobilized affinity molecules having specificity for viral components. Passage of the fluid through the hollow fibers causes the viral particles to bind to the affinity molecules thereby reducing the viral load in the effluent.

La présente invention concerne un procédé destiné à réduire la charge virale, par élimination de virus ou de fragments ou de composants de virus contenus dans le sang, au moyen d'une circulation extracorporelle du sang au travers de fibres creuses qui comportent, sur la surface extérieure poreuse, des molécules immobilisées à affinité spécifique pour des composants viraux. Le passage du fluide au travers des fibres creuses provoque une fixation des particules virales sur les molécules à affinité, ce qui permet de réduire la charge virale de l'effluent.
