The present invention provides a method and apparatus for forming a business on the Internet through collaborative on-line efforts. The method comprises the steps of receiving a business proposal from an Internet user and forwarding the proposal to on-line personnel for evaluation and approval. Once the business proposal is approved, business tasks are created. Attribute information associated with a plurality of on- line members and the business proposal is then analyzed to select at least one on-line member to perform the business tasks. After the on-lint member is selected, the member is assigned the task. The approved proposal is then forwarded to financiers for evaluation and financial support; and upon receipt of financial support, the business is formal between user, the financier and the one on-line member based on the business proposal.
