A process for preparing heat-insulating constructional material based on an alkalized and flooded siliceous raw material fabricated by comminuting solid ingredients and mixing all the raw ingredients, steaming a raw mixture and thermally bloating intermediate products obtained from the steamed raw mixture is designed for utilisation as warmth-keeping fills and light-weight concrete aggregates (in a particulate form) and as structural elements for buildings and constructions (in the form of slabs or blocks). For the purpose of controlling the desired products in a wide range of dimensions and to achieve a greater stability in its mechanical strength and water adsorption the material is obtained by cooling the steamed raw mixture prior to its transition in a brittle condition and crushing the brittle mixture prior to bloating for obtaining the intermediate products.

Cette invention concerne un matériau de construction thermo-isolant à base d'une matière première siliceuse alcaline et hydratée, lequel matériau est obtenu en broyant les matières premières dures, puis en mélangeant tous les ingrédients. Le mélange de matières premières est ensuite soumis à un traitement à la vapeur avant de procéder à l'expansion thermique du produit semi-fini issu du traitement à la vapeur du mélange de matières premières. Ce matériau peut être utilisé en qualité d'isolant thermique ou de matière de charge dans des bétons légers lorsqu'il se présente sous forme de dispersion, ainsi qu'en qualité d'élément de construction dans des bâtiments ou des édifices lorsqu'il se présente sous forme de plaques ou de blocs. Afin d'élargir la gamme des dimensions possibles du produit fini et de stabiliser la résistance mécanique ainsi que le pouvoir d'absorption de l'eau de ce matériau, on refroidit le mélange de matières premières jusqu'à ce qu'il adopte un état friable, après quoi on brise la masse friable et l'on procède à son expansion afin d'obtenir le produit semi-fini.
