A DC resistance welding apparatus has a pair of welding electrodes for sandwiching work-pieces to be welded therebetween. An inverter unit is provided and has semiconductors switchable into and out of operation for converting DC electric energy to AC electric energy. A converter converts the AC electric energy to DC electric energy and applies the DC electric energy to the welding electrodes. A base driver is provided for operating the semiconductors with switching currents higher than a continuous rating range. A timer circuit is also provided for measuring a conduction time of the semiconductors and cutting the switching currents, thereby rendering the semiconductors non-conductive, when the measured conduction time exceeds a predetermined time.

Le poste comprend : un onduleur à semiconducteurs pouvant être commutés en service et hors service pour la conversion d'un courant c.c. en courant c.a.; un convertisseur convertissant l'énergie électrique c.a. en énergie électrice c.c. et appliquant l'énergie électrique en c.c. aux électrodes de soudage; un pilote de base qui active les semiconducteurs avec des courants de commutation supérieurs aux valeurs utilisées en continu; un circuit de minutage servant à mesurer le temps de conduction des semiconducteurs et à interrompre le passage des courants de commutation rendant ainsi les semiconducteurs non conducteurs, lorsque le temps de conduction dépasse une limite prédéterminée.
