The present invention relates to a method for producing microsilica having a reflectivity between 65 and 90 % in a smelting furnace for production of ferrosilicon or silicon by using a charge comprising an SiO2-source and a solid carbonaceous reduction agent, where microsilica is recovered from the off-gases from the smelting furnace, wherein the solid reduction agent supplied to the furnace contains an amount of volatile matters of less than 1.25 kg per kg produced microsilica and that the temperature in the gas atmosphere in the furnace above the charge is kept above 500 °C.

L'invention concerne un procédé qui permet de produire de la microsilice dotée d'un pouvoir réfléchissant allant de 65 à 90 %, dans un four de traitement de minerais destiné à la production de ferrosilicium ou de silicium. On utilise une charge comprenant une source de SiO2 et un agent solide de réduction carboné et on récupère la microsilice à partir des effluents gazeux sortant du four. L'agent solide de réduction alimentant ce four contient une quantité de matières volatiles inférieure à 1,25 kg par kg de microsilice produite et la température de l'atmosphère gazeuse se trouvant dans le four au-dessus de la charge est maintenue au-dessus de 500 C.
