An applicator assembly for applying lotion by an individual user. The applicator assembly for applying lotion comprises an elongated handle has a separable lotion carrying absorbent pad attached at a proximal end portion of the elongated handle. The pad is attached with a first portion of a hook and loop type fastener that cooperates with a matching second portion of a hook and loop type fastener. The elongated handle has a distal end portion with a finger contoured portion to facilitate grasping. The distal end portion also has an aperture for suspending the assembly. A looped cord can also be laced through the aperture for suspending the applicator assembly. The elongated handle is a tapered handle at the distal end portion, both in width and thickness, to allow for greater maneuverability of the distal end portion when the applicator assembly is in use. The pad is wider than the handle and in use flexes about the handle to conform to the contours of the back.
