The invention concerns an automatic device and method of producing a hollow body from blanks obtained from a web of material, in particular textile material. The hollow body is intended for producing an airbag or a cover for a seat or cushion. The device comprises a main part (16) in the form of a plate which is self-enclosed in ring-like manner, two side plates (18, 19) matching the sides of the main part (16), and one or two sewing devices (48, 49). Suction openings (24) connected to a suction device can be used for securing the blanks to the inner walls of the main part and the side plates, or the blanks can be drawn in electrostatically. A moving device guides the two side plates (18, 19) from the exterior into a position inside the two inner edges (32) of the main part (16) and back out again when the blanks have been sewn up. Two guides per automatic sewing device (48, 49) can be provided in the vicinity of the edges of the main part or of the side plates.
L'invention concerne un procédé et un dispositif automatique permettant de produire un corps creux composé de pièces découpées dans une bande de matériau, notamment de matériau textile. Le corps creux est destiné à être utilisé dans la production d'airbags ou de garnitures de sièges ou de coussins. Le dispositif comporte une partie principale (16) sous forme de plaque fermée de type annulaire, deux plaques latérales (18, 19) adaptées aux côtés de la pièce principale (16), ainsi qu'un ou deux dispositifs de couture (48, 49). Pour maintenir les pièces découpées contre les parois intérieures de la pièce principale et des plaques latérales, il est prévu des orifices d'aspiration (24) reliés à un dispositif d'aspiration. Une autre solution consiste à ce que les pièces découpées soient aspirées électrostatiquement. Un dispositif de déplacement fait passer les deux plaques latérales (18, 19) de l'extérieur, dans une position située à l'intérieur des deux arêtes intérieures (32) de la pièce principale (16), puis les ramène à l'extérieur, une fois les pièces découpées cousues. Deux guides peuvent être prévus pour chaque dispositif de couture (48, 49), à proximité des bords de la pièce principale ou des plaques latérales.
