The purpose of the tool is to provide a controlled pulling or pushing force on two or more wall hung convection covers that incorporate an alignment strip that is pressed into or removed from a groove or journal present on both lateral faces of the to be joined panels (See fig.# 9 &10). The traditional way to do this is to have one worker place the alignment strip between the panels to be joined while another worker strikes the opposite end of either panel with a hammer using a piece of wood as a cushion to avoid damaging the new panels. The two parts of the tool are placed squarely on the perforated surface of the adjacent panels (see figs.#11&12) with the pins angled toward the direction of pull(see figs.#2&10) placed in the holes closest to the edge of both panels. The rod is inserted through both parts of the tool with the nuts threaded onto both protruding ends of the rod. The nuts are then tightened and the panels pulled together while visually verifying the alignment strip is placed correctly. The panels are now joined together with no visible gap between them. To separate the joined panels, reverse the direction of both parts of the tool with the nuts on the rod between both parts (see figs. #5, 6&7).Simply rotate the nuts in the opposite direction until the panels are separated and the alignment strip retrieved.
